What to Expect at Akagera

Game Drives

Self-drive or guided game drives through savannah, woodland, and lake-shore habitats. Morning drives (6 AM) and afternoon drives (3 PM) offer the best wildlife sightings including lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, and hippos.

Boat Safaris

Take a boat trip on Lake Ihema to see hippos, crocodiles, and water birds up close. Boat safaris depart from the Akagera Game Lodge jetty and last approximately 2 hours. Bookings can be made at the park gate.

Behind-the-Scenes Experiences

Join a night game drive to spot nocturnal predators, or take a guided walk along the park's northern sector. These activities must be pre-booked through Akagera Management Company.
